Hans Rosingh’s self-described Diary Entries are amazing, simply incredible. They are poignant, warm, loving and very moving for the reader. He writes about what he sees and feels. He shares his deepest thoughts about his family of Mastiffs. He records his realizations and fears as the various moments as their lives develop. His detailed account of Tasha’s ordeal with bloat and her eventual passing had me relating to my own bloat losses, and I cried while I read. He described so well what I have personally felt. He permits the reader to also experience his caring recovery of a puppy, Morris, who was so nearly lost. I felt the author’s anguish over the loss of his matriarch Molly. What a skill this author has for reducing huge, complex and sometimes painful feelings to the simplest descriptions, compressed into an abbreviated diary notation that manages to leave nothing out. This is a heavy book, with substance and quality through and through. If it is viewed one time, if it is read one time, the reader will not be able to walk away from it because it continues to pull you back to look and read again.
